On May 19, 2021 (12:00-14:00 UTC+3), we went live with our newly upgraded and segmented Digital Twin event that focuses on engineering education and the implementation of Digital Twins in research. We were joined by academic experts with in-depth experience on Digital Twins who will discuss their applications in education and research.

The event was the first in a line of events to come and focused on the use of Digital Twins in engineering education and research. Our line of speakers featured academics from three prestigious European universities, each with in-depth experience on Digital Twins and their applications.

1. Dr.-Ing. Taras Shepel, TU Bergakademie Freiberg
Experience of TU Bergakademie Freiberg in using real-time simulators in teaching and research
2. Ph.D. Student Jake Rankin, Loughborough University
“Using Digital Twins to develop a Reinforcement Learner for Trenching”
3. Prof. Aki Mikkola, Lappeenranta University of Technology
“Teaching of Simulation Techniques in LUT University”

Products are becoming smarter and ever more connected, integrating the product hardware, sensors, software, connectivity, and data processing. Designing these products requires an understanding of several engineering disciplines and how they work together.
