Meeting with Dr. Christian Koegl, Head of Siemens Cranes

Mevea's Raimo Nikkila is meeting with Dr. Christian Koegl, Head of Siemens Cranes.

At TOC Europe 2025 in Rotterdam, Mevea had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Christian Koegl, Senior Vice President at Siemens and Head of Siemens Cranes.

In this brief video interview, Dr. Koegl introduces the scope of Siemens Cranes solutions, and shares his perspective on some of the most relevant topics shaping the future of port operations—ranging from automation trends to the expanding role of AI, data, and digitalization.

The conversation also reflects on the ongoing collaboration between Siemens and Mevea, which began in 2018 and has continued to evolve. Mevea provides real-time simulation software that enables Siemens digital twin for testing and development of crane automation systems. These simulations support Siemens’ engineering and commissioning processes—allowing systems to be tested virtually before deployment, improving safety, and reducing delivery times.

In addition, Mevea supplies training simulators that support both manual cabin-operated cranes and remotely operated, automated cranes. These simulators play a key role in training operators before a crane is delivered—ensuring workforce readiness from day one.

Watch the full video to hear how Siemens Cranes is navigating digital transformation, and how Mevea’s simulation technology supports their innovation journey.
