The annual Mevea simulation seminar was organized on October 1st in Lappeenranta, Finland. The interest on real-time simulation is increasing in many industries from companies of all sizes. This year’s seminar had over one hundred participants from over 50 companies.
The leading Finnish experts from industry, research and education presented the methods, experiences, benefits and future directions of virtual prototyping:
- Industry: Normet, Sandvik Mining and Etteplan
- Research: Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) and Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT)
- Education: Universities of Applied Sciences from Lappeenranta, Helsinki and Seinäjoki
During the seminar, there were presentations ranging from machine control system development using HIL simulation to virtual validation of machine compliance. Also the future roadmap of real-time simulation was painted.
An exciting inside view of how simulation is used in Formula1 was presented by Mr. Ossi Oikarinen, Technical Director of Audi Sport Team Rosberg, and before that the Chief Test Engineer of Ferrari F1.
