The biggest bauma ever (in many ways)

Seven full days of bauma was concluded a while ago, and it is time to do a little recap on the biggest industry tradeshow of the year. Just to give you some scope on how big of a tradeshow bauma really is, here are some figures:

  • 620 000 visitors from over 200 countries.
  • 3700 exhibitors from 63 countries.
  • Total area of 614 000 square meters.

As even stated in the official bauma summary, the digitalization “megatrend” was clearly visible throughout the event. Electric and hybrid machinery were impossible to miss, and data related to both the development and use of the machinery was present as ever. It was truly fascinating to see the latest and greatest the industry has to offer, and it is easy to summarize that the speed of development is only accelerating.

Not only was bauma big in general, but it was also very big for Mevea. The event was a great success with hundreds of people interested to see our excavator Digital Twin in action. In addition to our own stand, this year we had five of our customers who were showcasing the capabilities of the Digital Twins of their products.

In the research and development section of our booth we dove deeper into the software and visitors were able to see how Digital Twin technology can accelerate the development of a new generation of intelligent machinery. With the potential to generate training data for autonomous machine development, test out electric drivelines, or develop predictive maintenance features, the physics-based Digital Twins created with Mevea software can be a real game-changer for the heavy machinery industry.

After a successful bauma, we’re happy to return to Germany in a couple of weeks, when VDI Wissensforum is organizing the 4th International VDI conference in Düsseldorf on 14-15 May. The conference will cover three different topics: Electrified Off-Highway Machines, Connected Off-Highway Machines and Smart Farming, and will be accompanied by an exhibition where also Mevea will be featured.

Thank you all for visiting us at bauma, and looking forward to seeing you at VDI!
